We hope this message finds you well amidst this unprecedented COVID-19 global situation that many of us are managing through across our communities, and with family and friends.
As you know, it is our mission to deliver a baseball experience to all of you. It is with this mission in mind, as well as the safety of you and those around us, that we will weigh our options for the 2020 season.
As a league we are fully aware of anyone's inability to predict a specific date for the end of this pandemic or the start of baseball season and keeping this fluidity in mind we still must try. Currently, Governor Inslee has a “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order until May 4th. There is a good chance that the date will change. We currently can't play on the fields and we will adhere to the guidelines set by the City, County, State, and Nation when it comes to social distancing and the health and safety of our league. Therefore, regardless of the date set, we will not be playing any ball before the proper officials have deemed it safe to do so.
There is a possibility that we will not be able to have an organized baseball season this year. While that would be a disappointment, we would be doing it for the safety of you and your families. Because no dates are set in stone, and health recommendations are constantly in flux, we are not prepared at this time to cancel the season and not able to announce a start date for the season. We remain hopeful that we will be able to return to baseball and playing once again! The season will be later, and shorter, but if we can safely provide a quality season, your SWABL board will work hard to ensure we can.
We hope everyone is finding ways to enjoy some extra time with your families.
Feel free to contact us with any questions.
We're a non-profit amateur wood bat baseball league with age divisions for 35+ and 45+. We play our games on Sundays in Southwest Washington.
